Capacity building for territorial stakeholders in the field of investment and sustainable economic development
Despite Peru's socio-economic progress, inequalities between regions remain high. In this context, the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF) of Peru recognises the need to create appropriate incentives to promote the competitiveness of the territories in a sustainable manner.
GIZ as a Technical Assistance (TA) partner of the MEF has a long experience working together since 2007.
The current GIZ support programme Good Governance for Sustainable Regional Economic Development in Peru has the strategic objective of strengthening partner capacities to improve the institutional framework for sustainable regional economic development in Peru. This GIZ TA phase is geographically concentrated on three regions in Peru. In addition, Output 4 is co-financed by the European Union through the programme "Sustainable Business - A Circular, Inclusive Economy", which promotes measures for the transition to a circular economy.
Specifically, the GIZ Support Programme Good Governance for Sustainable Regional Economic Development in Peru advises the MEF on the following four Outputs (only Output 3 is reflect on this Consultancy):
1. Coordination between key actors for the promotion of regional sustainable economic development is improved.
2. Key instruments to promote regional development in terms of competitiveness, sustainability and gender equality are improved.
3. Application-oriented knowledge in the field of investment project management has been provided to relevant regional actors in sub-national governments.
4. Regional public and private actors are initiating measures to transfer to the circular economy.
