The UG currently lacks equipment for nanoparticle characterization and concentration measurements with the characteristics described above. The instruments available include a dynamic light scattering machine and a nanoparticle tracking analyzer. However, these instruments cannot characterize nanoparticles in complex biological fluids and with high resolution, as required for the new research line described. This is because the instruments currently available have limited resolution for complex mixtures or - among others - they require extensive dilution and thus do not reflect physiological conditions. Furthermore, access to the available instruments is limited due to restrictions on the maximum number of users, who must be experienced researchers. This limits accessibility for students, larger groups, and collaborative research projects.
