NRK ́s VMware licences have achieved End of Life (EOL) and must be renewed. NRK had planned to procure licences together with hardware (as part of the competition carried out in autumn 2023 with the award of contract on Thursday 14 December). In this tender contest, news emerged that Broadcom Inc. had procured the software group VMware, and consequently there was a significant change of license terms, which i.a. resulted in in inaccuracies as to how to procure the VMware licences. NRK has now been offered to buy the licenses directly from Broadcom.NRK has examined the market and clarified that the distributor link is not able to offer us the prices and terms that we can achieve by direct purchase from Broadcom. NRK cannot, in this case, see any value in the form of value creation or extra services, which will outweigh significantly higher costs.
